JioStar appoints David Zakkam as SVP and head of analytics and data strategy

He will work closely with business, marketing, content, advertising, engineering, and product teams to enhance consumer and business value through data-driven decision-making.

JioStar has named David Zakkam as senior vice president and head of analytics and data strategy. In his new role, Zakkam will lead the company’s analytics division, including Veeran, and will work closely with business, marketing, content, advertising, engineering, and product teams to enhance consumer and business value through data-driven decision-making.

With over two decades of experience in data science and analytics, Zakkam brings a strong background from his previous leadership roles at Uber, Meta, Swiggy, and Mu Sigma. At Uber, he led the company’s Data & Applied Science team in India, driving growth across rides, delivery, and mobility while also pioneering generative AI applications. During his tenure at Meta, Zakkam led efforts to safeguard millions of users by addressing integrity-related challenges. As vice president of analytics at Swiggy, he played a key role in transforming the organisation’s data culture to improve speed, scalability, and impact.

An alumnus of IIT Delhi and IIM Calcutta, Zakkam is known for his ability to bridge technical depth with business strategy, making complex ideas actionable and engaging. His leadership is expected to strengthen JioStar’s focus on analytics and elevate its data strategy across platforms.

Outside of work, Zakkam is passionate about music and fiction writing. He lives with his wife Preethi, a marketing professional, and their 11-year-old daughter Sarah.
