Hockey India launches new ‘Big. Is. Back.’ campaign for HIL season

Hockey India has released a new campaign to build anticipation for the upcoming Hero Hockey India League season, supported by a wide-reaching marketing rollout.

Hockey India has unveiled its official promo for the new Hero Hockey India League (HIL) season, introducing the brand line ‘Big. Is. Back.’ The campaign positions the league’s return with a renewed sense of scale and creative ambition, reflecting a refreshed identity designed to add energy and cinematic impact to the sport’s presentation.

The creative direction highlights hockey’s intensity and athleticism while acknowledging the cultural significance the sport holds across India. The rollout spans multiple markets and platforms to maximise visibility at every fan touchpoint. HIL’s 2024 return saw substantial momentum, supported by Prasar Bharati and Sony Sports Network. The league reported a cumulative reach of 40.8 million viewers, up 48 per cent from 2017. The men’s final recorded 3.07 million viewers, and the most-watched women’s match drew 2.92 million. Internationally, more than 5 million viewers across 18 hockey-playing nations watched through TV and OTT platforms. On social media, the league recorded over 1 billion views from more than 3,000 content pieces across Facebook, Instagram and X.

The new season’s campaign is anchored in a 360-degree approach. High-impact animated films highlight each franchise city, large-format outdoor installations build anticipation and a layered presence across radio, television and OTT extends reach. A strengthened social strategy will focus on daily storytelling, behind-the-scenes access, player-led narratives and influencer-driven engagement.

Dr Dilip Tirkey, chairperson of the governing committee, said the new promo signals the official countdown to a bigger edition of the league, noting HIL’s role in nurturing Indian hockey. Committee member Shri Bhola Nath Singh added that the campaign aims to make the league accessible, energetic and enjoyable for fans.

The upcoming season maintains a focus on scale and innovation. The women’s league will take place in Ranchi from 28 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, followed by the men’s league from 3 to 26 January 2026 across Chennai, Ranchi and Bhubaneswar.
