Publicis Groupe’s global chief production officer, James Morris, has decided to leave the business at the end of October.
The holding company will not be replacing his role directly, and Morris will announce his next venture in the new year.
Morris joined Publicis in January 2024 as chief executive of creative transformation in EMEA, and was promoted to global chief production officer in January this year.
He said: “With a strong team now in place, I have decided it is a good time to embark on my next adventure. I wish to thank all the brilliant people at Publicis and look forward to observing their continued success.”
Having joined Dentsu in 2019 as CEO for creative, entertainment and sport UK, Morris added EMEA responsibilities to his role in 2021. He oversaw creative and production, including fronting the media and acquisition strategy in this area.
Prior to Dentsu, Morris spent three years as global CEO of production company Stink, before which he worked at Mediacom for five years. At Stink, he helped develop TV shows, music videos, branded content and digital experiences for media owners and brands including Channel 4, Google and Nike.
A spokesperson from Publicis Production said: “James has decided to move on, and he leaves us at the end of this month. We’re hugely grateful for his contribution and wish him all the best in his next chapter.”
Publicis named Deepti Velury its CEO of global production earlier this month. Velury joins from Publicis’ data and technology arm, Epsilon, where she was chief technology and transformation officer.
The holding company said her experience reflects a “major shift” within production, with identity data becoming “critical”.
